Launch COSSAN-X with X2GO

These are instructions to install and use x2go in order to launch COSSAN-X.

Prerequisite

You must have access to server iru1.liv.ac.uk. 
Contact info@cossan.co.uk for any issues.

Download Client

Download the appropriate x2go client here based on your Operating System

Install x2go Client

Windows

Double click on the installation file and you should get a series of prompts as follows. (Diagrams apply to Windows client)

Linux

The X2go client can be installed directly from the software repository. For instance on Fedora/CentOS systems:

sudo dnf search x2goclient

for Ubuntu/Debian systems

sudo apt-get install x2goclient

Configuration

  1. Once x2go client is installed, launch the new installation.
  2. Start a new session. From the top menu choose Session → Session Management → New Session.
  3. Configure the session as follows. Remember to untick Auto-Login or you will be prompted for a passphrase. Choose Session Type: Published Applications

Choose 'OK'. You may encounter an error saying 'x2goclient.exe has stopped working'. If so, choose 'Close the Program' and reopen it from your desktop menu. This is a known bug which is expected to be addressed in the next release of the client.

Launch Client

As soon as you start x2go, you should be able to launch the new session you saved.

Key in your username and password

Choose Applications which is the first button, as shown in screenshot below.

Scroll down to Other → CossanX → Start. CossanX should then launch on your desktop.
